This summer, young people are facing the worst job market in decades. Whether you’re looking for a summer job, trying to start your career after graduation or trying to find work that meets your values, it’s a struggle out there.

We want to hear your job-hunting stories. As part of a campaign for the Youth Climate Corps, we want to collect your experiences in this challenging job market, and we’d also like to know if you’d welcome the chance to enroll in a YCC (if the federal government were to finally launch such a program!). The YCC would be a massive government-funded program to hire tens of thousands of young people into climate-related work. Workers would support efforts in their communities to both better prepare for climate disruptions and to drive down carbon pollution, as well as find work in extreme weather emergency response. The program would ideally last 2 years, offer benefits, education, and a pathway to post-secondary certification (an undergrad degree or apprenticeship).

We hope to use these stories to make clear to the Canadian government that the need for action is now, and that taking an austerity approach to governance will hurt, not help, youth unemployment
